Overview

A mobile patient lift is the standard tool for safe transfers of patients who cannot bear weight. The patient sits in a fabric sling attached to a spreader bar, and an electric actuator (or, on some models, a hydraulic pump) raises and lowers them while the carer steers the wheeled base.

Lifts differ in safe working load, lifting range, base design (manual or powered leg opening) and accessories such as scales or low-leg kits. Choosing the right sling size and type is as important as the lift itself.
